SUMMARY:Webinar: Working Together to Cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Ontario’s Colleges
DESCRIPTION:From the Broader Public Sector (BPS) data reported to the Ministry of Energy\, we are evaluating the energy performance of Ontario’s colleges. We presented the 2019 energy efficiency rankings of 20 colleges and the actual energy savings achieved in 2019 vs 2018. We recognized top 5 -performers. \nThe webinar addressed the biggest opportunities for energy and emissions reductions in post-secondary campuses. We had a panel discussion on potential areas for collaboration to facilitate everyone’s efforts to improve the energy and environmental footprint of their facilities. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Webinar: Working Together to Cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Ontario’s Colleges (1:31:26 min)\n Introductions and Context for Collaboration \n\nIan Jarvis\, Executive Director\, Climate Challenge Network\nDonald Jantz\, Executive Director for Sustainable Campus Collaborative\n\nOntario’s BPS and College Information Reporting \n\nData availability and how it can be used to support collaboration\n\n2019 Rankings of Top Performing Colleges \n\nEnergy target methodology and white paper\nRecognizing Ontario’s top 5 energy efficient colleges\nAchievable energy and emissions savings potential for each college and the province as a whole\nActual energy and emissions reductions recorded in 2019 vs 2018\n\nOpportunities for Working Together & Panel Discussion \n\nImmediate operational improvements and recommissioning\nData-driven identification and verification of measures\nCapital planning towards net zero over time\nPotential and planned joint research projects to document best practices\nResources available to help\nPanel discussion on college priorities and cohort research projects\nSamantha Tremmel Lamb\, Environmental Sustainability Coordinator\, Conestoga College\nAman Hehar\, Associate Director\, Energy & Climate Change\, Humber College\nCraig Martin\, Manager\, Energy & Assets\, Niagara College\nSteve Jankus\, Energy & Automation Systems Specialist\, Mohawk College\nPost-Secondary Climate Challenge – facilitating collaboration on best practices\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Please contact nmillan@climatechallengenetwork.org with any questions about this event.
